Tim McKay,
percussion coach: M.M Percussion Performance, University of Maryland; B.M., Percussion Performance, Oberlin Conservatory. Mr. McKay is an active teacher and freelance musician in the greater DC area. He currently serves as adjunct faculty at Howard County Community College, as Director of Percussion at George C. Marshall High School in Fall Church, VA, working with the marching and concert percussion sections, percussion ensemble, and methods class. Mr. McKay also works with the percussionists at Robinson High School in Fairfax, VA, as well as the Potomac School in McLean, VA. Mr. McKay also has a private studio and has given masterclasses and clinics throughout the area. Mr. McKay has performed with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, the West Virginia Symphony, the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, the Soulful Symphony in Baltimore, and multiple other local orchestral and chamber ensembles. He has performed at the Kennedy Center, in various musical productions throughout the area, as well as performing under Leonard Slatkin while attending the National Orchestral Institute’s summer music festival.
Tom Wagner, percussion: M.M., Rutgers University; B.M.,
New England Conservatory of Music. Locally, Mr. Wagner has appeared
with groups such as the Alexandria Choral Society, Soulful Symphony,
the Great Noise Ensemble, and the Washington Soloist Ensemble.
Nationally, Mr. Wagner has appeared with the New World Symphony
under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas and the Boston Philharmonic
under the direction of Benjamin Zander. Mr. Wagner is the director
of the KIPPS: KEY Academy Drumline in Southeast Washington D.C.
and he coaches percussion with the marching, concert, and jazz
bands at Bethesda Chevy-Chase High School. He also is an assistant
instructor of the University of Maryland Drumline. Mr. Wagner
is an active freelance percussionist and teacher in the Washington,
D.C. area.
