DCYOP Parent Group
Since the very beginning of the DC Youth Orchestra Program, parents have been a vital and valuable part of the organization. The Parent Group of the DCYOP works to build community, foster communication, and support the DCYOP.
All parents and guardians of DCYOP students at all levels are members of the Parent Group. The Parent Group is led by a Steering Committee made up of parents/guardians of students at various levels in DCYOP.

Parent Group Meetings
The Parent Group holds several meetings each semester. These meetings are a chance for DCYOP families to get to know each other and to learn about ways to support their musicians. Past and future meeting topics include: practice tips, finding a summer music program, and choosing a private music teacher. Meeting details are announced through emails and flyers.

End of Year Receptions – bring cookies/snacks to share
All DCYOP musicians and their families are invited to celebrate the end of the semester at receptions in the West Atrium immediately following the Beginner (May 4), Intermediate (May 5) and CO/JO (May 11) performances.
Each family should bring 1-2 dozen cookies or another snack (finger food only) to share. Cookies may be dropped off in the West Atrium before concert. Please include note with the name of your cookie along with an ingredient list.
YO students and the sectional coaches and their conductor will celebrate the end of the semester with a luncheon during the break for their final rehearsal on May 11. Stay tuned for details.
Concert Attire Exchange
Bring in outgrown concert clothes to the snack table in the cafeteria any Saturday between 10 am-1:30 pm. We’ll hold a clothing swap and sale on Saturday, April 27, just in time for the Spring concerts.
Snack Volunteer
Sign up online to help serve snacks and pizza on Saturdays.
