The Catalogue for Philanthropy has once again selected the DC Youth Orchestra Program as "one of the best small charities in the Greater Washington region" for 2012-2013.
Nonprofits were evaluated for distinction, merit, and impact, as well as cost-effectiveness, sustainability, and financial transparency. DCYOP is honored to be a part of the Catalogue family -- the DC region's "good housekeeping seal of approval" for community-based nonprofits.

Other ways support the DCYOP
Workplace Giving: Each year the United Way, Combined Federal Campaign, and America's Charities provide an opportunity for you to give to the DCYOP through your workplace. Typically, the contribution you make to DCYOP through your workplace is pulled from your paycheck as per-tax dollars, making the contribution worth even more!! For more information about how to donate through your workplace, contact your supervisor directly.
DCYOP staff also frequent workplace giving campaign events and we are part of the United Way speakers' bureau. If you would like us to come to your office and talk about DCYOP, you can contact the United Way or America's Charities directly. We would be honored to be included. In addition, the DCYOP has some materials available (click here) for you to print and pass out during workplace campaigns if it is not appropriate or we are not available to attend.
Stock and Securities: Gifts of highly appreciated securities held long-term may offer you significant tax benefits if they are transferred to the program before they are sold. Not only might you receive an income tax deduction for the full value of the securities, subject to certain limitations, you might also save the capital gains tax on the appreciation that would otherwise have been due. If you are considering using securities that have depreciated in value since purchase, it will, in most cases, be more advantageous to sell the stock and give the proceeds to the Program. Please speak to your financial advisor about gifts of stock and securities.
Legacy Giving: You can support the future financial stability of the Program by remembering us in your will or by making us a full or partial beneficiary of your retirement plan or life insurance policy. This is an excellent way to make a significant gift without it costing you a penny now. For more detailed information, please contact your legal or financial advisor. We may be able to give you some addition guidance as well - please call (202) 698-0123, ext. 1264194.

In-Kind Donations: Gifts-in-kind include gifts of tangible property such as equipment, furniture, music, books and instruments, that can be used for teaching, outreach or in other ways that support the core mission of the Program. We are pleased to accept gifts-in-kind as approved by the Board Committee. All gifts are acknowledged with a descriptive receipt issued by the Program along with the IRS form 8283, as necessary. It is the donor's responsibility to determine the value of the gift for charitable purposes. Please call (202) 698-0123, ext. 1264194 for questions regarding in-kind donations or about items in need.
Memorial Gifts/Honorarium: Any gift to any fund may be designated in honor or in memory of a member of the DCYOP community, or of another person of your choosing.
