Chamber Music Intensive

For intermediate/advanced students

This summer’s Chamber Music Intensive will be taking place June 26 – July 7, 2017 (no program on July 4) at George Washington University Department of Music, Phillips Hall at 801 22nd Street NW, Washington, DC.  The Chamber Music Intensive is open to all members of the Youth Orchestra, Youth Philharmonic, Repertory Orchestra, and Young Artist Orchestra by audition only. There is no age requirement for the Chamber Music Intensive.

The Chamber Music Intensive program is devoted to the study of chamber music and the development of community leadership and engagement skills.  Students will receive multiple coachings daily with DCYOP faculty, work with DCYOP staff to develop a leadership or community project, and perform a series of self-guided concert programs in the community. The culminating final concert will take place on July 7.

Space is limited and student participation is determined by video audition. Those selected into the program will receive a $1,700 scholarship to cover tuition. There is a $100 activities fee that will be offered at a sliding scale to accepted participants. Once accepted, students will be placed into a level-appropriate chamber ensemble to last the duration of the Chamber Music Intensive. To apply, please complete the audition form at this link. Students who are accepted to the program will be notified by March 17, 2017.
