Our Beginner Group Class program is a full one year program for children ages 4 ½ and up who are just picking up a musical instrument for the very first time. Students commit to participating in the program for a full academic year starting in September and culminating in the students’ first performance at our spring ensemble concerts each May. In most cases, students are expected to attend with a trusted adult who learns alongside their child and helps them practice during the school week. Class enrollment is limited to ensure that students and parents receive sufficient individual attention and opportunities to interact with the instructor.

Beginner lessons
Children can take their first steps towards learning a musical instrument in a DCYOP Beginners Group Class.
Tuition and financial assistance
Tuition covers lessons/sectionals, rehearsals, concerts, evaluations and master classes. While the average cost per student is $1400 per year, DCYOP subsidizes tuition for all students to make its programs affordable and accessible. We offer additional financial assistance to all students on a sliding scale and a scholarship experience for intermediate and advanced students.
