Students ages 5 – 18 from across the Washington metropolitan area who have any experience playing an instrument are welcome to audition for and join any of our ensembles, which meet on Saturdays at Takoma Elementary School throughout the school year.

Ensembles

Every student who auditions to join the program will be placed in an ensemble. While beginner to intermediate ensembles may consist of only string, wind or brass instruments, our advanced ensembles are full symphonic orchestras that combine string, wind, brass, and percussion instruments. As part of the orchestral program, DCYOP may offer chamber music for intermediate and advanced students during the school year or summer.
Auditions for ensembles may be accepted on a rolling basis. Please visit our Registration page for more information on how to audition.

Tuition and financial assistance
Tuition covers lessons/sectionals, rehearsals, concerts, evaluations and master classes. While the average cost per student is $1200 per year, DCYOP subsidizes tuition for all students to make its programs affordable and accessible. We offer additional financial assistance to all students on a sliding scale and a scholarship experience for intermediate and advanced students.
